This Series 17 card shows the street activity on Stephen Street in Calgary opposite the Hudson’s Bay Company store (with awnings on the right). The sender has annotated the card with text showing the location of his bank (at the left, with an “X” on the column supporting the bank’s entry arch.
The card was mailed to Denver, Colorado where it was received September 20, 1905. SInce the stamp has been removed, only a partial cancellation remains form the city of origin, which is presumably Calgary. This date in earlier than the date noted in the first edition of Mike Smith’s The W.G. MacFarlane Picture Postcard Handbook 1902–1910.
